Ministry of Ukraine of Emergencies and Affairs of Population Protection from the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe (MES of Ukraine) - the former Ministry of Ukraine. December 9, 2010 is re-formed in the Ministry of Emergencies of Ukraine (Presidential Decree number 1085 of December 9, 2010 "About the optimization of the system of central bodies of executive power").

    Ministry was the main body in the system of central executive authorities regarding enforcement of state policy in the sphere of civil defense, rescue cases, the creation and functioning of the systems of the insurance fund documentation, radioactive waste management, protection of population and territories from emergency situations to prevent these situations and response them, respond to them and the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.

    In December 2012, was formed State Emergency Service of Ukraine Presidential Decree № 726/2012 from 24.12.2012 year by reorganizing the Ministry of Emergencies of Ukraine and the State Inspectorate of technogenic security of Ukraine. On April 25, 2014 Service activities are directed and coordinated by the Cabinet through the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

    Presidential Decree of April 6, 2011 № 393/2011 «Regulations of the State Agency of Ukraine for managing exclusion zone" was established the State Agency of Ukraine for managing exclusion zone (gas Ukraine) - the central executive body, the activity of which is directed and coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine through minister of ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
